Introduction: I work as a consultant and as a conservator. My strength comes from over thirty-two years working hands-on with the restoration of Tiffany, LaFarge, and other stained glass windows by the best American and European fabricators. My knowledge is the result of working on the windows, not only reading about them. I have summarized below the different services offered and working arrangements through which my firm will work on a project, to ensure that your project is successfully completed. I look forward to the possibility of meeting with you. Arthur J. Femenella, President

This work can include one or more of the following: prioritization of work; preparation of contract documents; assisting in the selection of a contractor; review of the specifications and design of the proposed project; provision of on-site and in-studio direction of the forces of the studio; review of contractor proposals for changes in the work; preparation of mock-ups of proposed systems to verify appropriateness or to act as a benchmark for expected quality on the project; certification of work completed for billing and warrantee purposes; and ongoing value engineering throughout the project. This may include the design and fabrication of custom crates in the event of a traveling exhibition, or design and fabrication of light boxes to display the glass. Past exhibitions include a traveling exhibit of La Farge objects including ten windows that opened in Washington and traveled to Pittsburgh and Boston; the Tiffany Masterworks Exhibit that opened in Washington and traveled to New York; and an extension and modification of that exhibit that traveled to four cities in Japan. Joint Ventures: In concert with studios and craftsmen that have attended my seminars, or who have worked for me in the past, execute restoration projects for clients across the country. This is not a sub-contracting relationship, but rather, I am intimately involved in the day to day processes in the studio. This method of working allows me to provide, to the advantage of the client, the appropriate level of expertise for each project. More than one studio or group of craftsmen can be employed on the same project, depending on its scope and magnitude. For a partial list of my clients click here. Hands-On Seminars: Coordinate and present one to two week seminars teaching state-of-the-art restoration techniques on real windows in real church situations. Eighteen to twenty-four participants travel from all over the U.S. and Canada to work 8 to 10 hour days restoring the windows of a needy Church. Most of the attendees are stained glass professionals, and the average experience level is five years. We just completed one at Bar Harbor, Maine and plan our next one in Troy, NY. For a list of upcoming events click here. Lectures: Present lectures on restoration, protective glazing, structure and support and installation materials and techniques at national conferences of glass or preservation organizations.
